It is an executing agency of the Delhi-Rewari-Alwar Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) project, which will enable the passengers to cover the distance of around 180 km between Delhi and Alwar in 104 minutues. At present, it takes around four hours travel by road.

The project will not require acquisition of land as it would have only underground and elevated sections with 19 stations, NCRTC MD V K Singh said, during a presentation of the project to the stakeholders.

The project will have a design speed of 180 kmph, the operating speed of 160 kmph and an average speed of 105 kmph, he added.

Singh said the first 56 kms, between ISBT Kashmere Gate in Delhi to Cyber City in Haryana, will have nine underground stations, while the remaining stretch of 124.50 kms would have 10 elevated stations.

The NCRTC plans to get the nod for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the National Capital Regional Planning Board (NCRPB) in next two months and by the governments of Delhi, Hayrana and Rajasthan in another three months, the NCRTC MD said.

The trains, to run between Delhi-Alwar, would have six coaches to begin with and each will have the capacity to carry a total of 1,154 passengers. Urban Development Additional Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra, who was also present, suggested the NCRTC to consider including more station on the stretch.
