NCRTC celebrated 50th National Safety Day on 4th March 2021, marking the commitment of employees and workers to ensure integration of Safety Practices while working on India’s first RRTS.
‘Safety Awareness Week’ began with the ‘Safety and Health’ pledge administered by Managing Director, Shri Vinay Kumar Singh through a live session joined by employees and other staff members across the Corporate office, Project manager and workers from various project sites.
The week-long awareness program witnessed active participation from everyone. Various safety-related activities like mock drills, health awareness sessions, emergency preparedness programs were held. To keep the engagement levels high, safety quiz, exciting sports and art competitions were also conducted, followed by an interactive discussion amongst staff members and workers about the importance of safety and health in life.
Safety at work is vital in RRTS construction; hence to handle medical exigency, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) session was demonstrated as part of the emergency preparedness at Sahibabad-Ghaziabad-Duhai (Package 1 & 2). Another attraction was SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) Awareness Training that involved ‘SHE Quiz’ and ‘Safety Poster Competition’ for everyone.
The other important RRTS construction sites like Muradnagar, Modinagar workers received training for Defensive, First aid and Waste management. In addition, various interesting competitions were organised to engage with the team, followed by Safety sessions on casting yard operations, piling activities, and traffic management to manage the construction more efficiently.
Safety Week is observed every year from 4th-10th March to celebrate the foundation of the National Safety Council of India to raise awareness about safety measures and prevent misfortunes. With the prime objective to educate and sensitise the staff and workers about the importance of safety measures that they should observe daily, NCRTC successfully concluded the initiative.
