In a significant development, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) today approved USD $1 billion funding package for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor. The loan will be used for financing civil works, railway tracks, station buildings, multi-modal hubs, maintenance depots, traction and power supply of the corridor. The project is critical not only for decongesting Delhi but also for reducing hazardous air pollution by encouraging public transport. The project will result in a paradigm shift in mobility across the NCR by providing equitable, fast, reliable, safe, comfortable, efficient and sustainable transit solution.
