NCRTC recently organised a Community Interaction Program (CIP) at Brahmpuri Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Such programs are conducted consistently by NCRTC to engage with the local citizens residing/ working within the influence zone of the RRTS alignment. The objective of such programs is to keep the citizens informed about on-going and upcoming developments in the project construction, and long-term benefits of the high-speed RRTS especially related to its significance in reduction of pollution, congestion etc. Features like multi-modal integration at RRTS stations with other modes of transport are also explained in detail in the CIP.

This first CIP in Meerut had received an overwhelming participation of people from all walks of life from Bramhpuri and nearby areas like Jawahar Nagar, Dev Puri, Subhash Bazaar, Sriram Market etc. in Meerut. It was appreciated by the participants that RRTS is India’s first regional rail and that implementation of such huge infrastructure project would not be possible without the whole-hearted support of the people of NCR who will be the beneficiary of this high-speed high-frequency system.

The participants were inquisitive about steps being taken to minimise disturbance in their day-to-day life due to such large-scale construction. They were appreciative that NCRTC is conscious of possible difficulties and proactively deployed Traffic Marshalls to make their life easy. Participants expressed their happiness for giving a platform for such interactions, where they can share feedback and have much clarity on various apprehensions related to the project. Few attendees even acknowledged the priority given to safety in the on-going RRTS construction i.e. being done within the barricaded zones and various steps being taken to mitigate pollution during the RRTS construction, especially extensive use of smog guns to contain the spread of dust.
NCRTC assured all the participants that such time-to-time engagements will continue to take their valuable suggestions and keep them aware of the project progress.
