Namo Bharat trains have push buttons for selective opening of doors. This eliminates the opening of all doors at every station, thus leading to energy

Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) are being used to isolate the platforms from the track. PSDs open only when the train stops at the correct position. The use of PSDs helps to prevent accidents, objects falling on track, and trespassing. PSDs are synchronously controlled throughout the length of the platform. PSDs which are on the platform operate in synchronization with the Train doors. PSDs are installed at every Namo Bharat station help in saving significant energy consumption and ensure enhanced safety of commuters. NCRTC has taken the initiative of bringing the technology of manufacturing PSDs in India, towards the aim of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ by adopting ‘Make in India’ in its true spirit. There exists huge

NCRTC has adopted Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for Delhi- Ghaziabad- Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. AFC offers QR Code based ticketing (Digital QR & Paper QR). Each Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) is equipped with a credit/debit/pre-paid card reader compliant with RuPay standard for non-cash payment of transactions. This will ensure a contactless entry/exit that will be seamless, easy, comfortable, and quick. UPI based payments are also enabled on the TVMs.

The Namo Bharat project is asset intensive and hence, management and maintenance of its assets through well-defined and coordinated processes plays a key role in the success of the project. NCRTC is implementing an Integrated Real-Time Enterprise Asset Management System (iDREAMS) which would ingest real-time data from different sources and other subsystems such as BIM, GIS, IoT, OCC, SCADA, BMS etc. during the design and construction phase. iDREAMS would bring digital transformation in the way rail assets are being managed in India.

For India’s first Namo Bharat, NCRTC has implemented European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 which includes Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Operation (ATO), and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) sub-systems using radio communication between track side and train. ETCS Level 2 signaling is being used for the first time in India, which involves continuous supervision of train movement with continuous communication between the train and trackside. Lineside signals are optional and train detection is performed by trackside equipment. ATP, ATO, and ATS provides high level of safety for trains running at close headway to ensure continuous and safe separation, eliminates accidents due to driver error, maintains safe speeds, optimizes speed, maximizes turn-around, and

The pre-cast ballastless tracks for Namo Bharat, which support high design speed of 180 kmph, are being indigenously manufactured in India. Namo Bharat tracks support high-performance and require low maintenance thus reducing the life-cycle cost.
