Workshop on TOD & VCF conducted by NCRTC on 15th June 2019

Urban planning and public transport planning are closely interlinked. Optimum outcomes require the synchronization between the two. Sustainability of mass transit projects like Regional Rapid Transit System can be improved by coordinated and integrated urban planning. Taking a step in this direction, NCRTC organized a workshop on June 15 on Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Value Capture Financing (VCF). Ideas on a range of diverse issues including various aspects of urban planning, ToD and VCF implementation, critical success factors and learnings from global and Indian examples were shared and discussed. The workshop was attended by senior officers from NITI Ayog and Government of Uttar Pradesh, representatives from various government departments development authorities and urban local bodies. The big-ticket public transit project often face issues of financial viability and these measures provide significant support to the fare box revenue and helps the project to sustain in the long-run. The experts/speakers shared their experiences, case studies of similar national and international projects and deliberated on the possible challenges.
